The Ohkura lab is a medium-sized laboratory well supported by The Wellcome Trust and other funding bodies, and has an outstanding track record of conducting original research at the highest standard. The Ohkura lab is located in Edinburgh, a historic city which offers excellent academic traditions, architectural beauty, and a lively, fun environment. Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland with a population of around 500,000. It is one of the most vibrant and cosmopolitan European cities with a large number of events taking place throughout the year. The most famous of these events are the August festivals including the Edinburgh International Festival, the Fringe Festival and the Military Tattoo. At the heart of Edinburgh there is a spectacular hill, Arthur Seat, which is surrounded by a myriad of traditional Victorian buildings. For those who enjoy spending their time outdoors, there are many appealing places around Edinburgh such as the Pentland Hills and the Scottish Highlands for hikers or the North Sea and numerous rivers and lochs for those who like water sports.
